Helena Tan
2026 AUSART Fellow/Scholar
Helena Tan is an Australian artist working with sculpture and assemblage. Her practice explores the colonial mechanisms of genericness and abstraction through a hyper-specificity of form, examining the logic and conditions that shape contemporary objects, image and signifiers.
Helena was a participant at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and her work has recently been exhibited at Animal House Fine Arts, Melbourne; Ashley Berlin, Berlin; Beau Travail, Stockholm; Kulturhuset Stadsteatern, Stockholm; Pina Vienna/Salzburger Kunstverein, Vienna; Stedelijk Museum of Amsterdam, Amsterdam; bologna.cc, Amsterdam; and Art in General, New York City.
As the 2026 recipient of the AusArt Fellowship Helena will be supported as she pursues her MFA studies in Sculpture at the Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts at Bard College, and her ongoing research and studio practice in New York.
